I’ve always found a red and blue combination to be a little bit “obvious”, bringing to mind things like cowboys, Stars & Stripes, Union Jacks – you know what I mean. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Look at this room, photographed for Italian furniture manufacturer Battistella for their children’s range Nidi.
It’s that surprising addition of mustard and stone – which work beautifully with the blues – that really take it away from the brashness of a red and blue scheme, but the red highlight is so nice and strong, nonetheless.
I’ve done a bit of Pinterest-ing to find the elements to create a similar scheme… with a bit of Skinny laMinx thrown in for good measure, of course!

I love the giant round red cushion in the inspiration pic, but am wondering whether I could get away with wearing this crazy Circle T Shirt Dress and yellow Swedish Hasbeens Cross Strap Debutant instead? Any excuse for a great outfit
